Obesity In Pregnancy
The report on Obesity in Pregnancy has been published by the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists
I have just added my latest analysis and comment about one of the key statements in the management of women with obesity in pregnancy. The statement is clearly, (in my opinion), logical and basic. Just wondered whether there is a place the UK or anywhere in the Western world where caring for obese women in pregnancy is no where near this statement. Your views are welcome, course.
Obesity In Pregnancy – on the increase
The problems of obesity in pregnancy are getting worse in the UK and across the Developed World. This is complex and difficult situation for both Governments, health care professionals and women who find themselves in this situation.
My personal experience is that women do not like talking about weight related challenges during the antenatal period, and health professionals midwives and consultants alike are not best trained or equipped to manage the situations. The best we can do is remember to assess for the risks associated with obesity and co-ordinate the care of each woman under our care.
The problems of obesity in pregnancy amongst pregnant women will continue to be a huge challenge until rates of obesity in the general populations stabilise or fall!
Go there and share.
Happy Easter
